JAKARTA - We are pleased to announce the official signing of the contract with PT. MRT Jakarta (MRTJ) for Consulting Service Package 1 of the MRT East-West Line Phase 1 Stage 1 development project. The event was held at the Transport Hub Building, Jakarta, on Monday, 7 July 2025. The event was attended by staff from both MRTJ and Nippon Koei Consulting with the contract signers being, Nicholas Felix, the Chief Representative of Nippon Koei Indonesia, and Weni Maulina, the Director of Construction of MRTJ.

The consulting service is expected to finish in 25 months, with the scope including tender assistance, System Engineering Services for Interoperability Standard (SESIS) 2, and Transit Oriented Development (TOD), as well as Intermodal Transit Facility (ITF).

The JMCA Joint Operation’s scope of works will cover the following:

  • Tender Assistance
  • System Engineering Services for Interoperability Standard Phase 2 (SESIS2)
  • Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) and Intermodal Transit Facility (ITF) Study Design

These consulting services for the MRTJ East-West Line Phase 1 Stage 1 development is for the design work. The alignment of this project extends from Tomang to Medan Merdeka, with a length of 24.5 km that connects Jakarta and Bekasi, including the 5.9 km of the depot alignment at Rorotan. This line will become the backbone of the public transportation system for the East-West line that integrates with the North-South line, with the interconnection at Thamrin Station, together with the other public transportation modes in Jakarta

Brief Project Overview
As we continue to contribute to Indonesia’s national development agenda, ICI 2025 was an opportunity to highlight NK’s track record and future ambitions. Our booth served not only as a showcase of technical excellence, but also as a symbol of our deep-rooted commitment to Indonesia’s progress.The MRT EW Line Phase 1 Stage 1 section is one of the Indonesia’s National Strategic Projects funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The entire project is planned to stretch over three provinces; Banten, Jakarta and West Java, with its total length reaching around 84.1 km, with this first stage of the project covering 24.5 km from Tomang to Medan Satria, with 13 elevated stations and 8 underground stations, and additional 5.9 km Depot access line Line in Rorotan area.

MRT EW Line will be the 2nd MRT system supported by Japanese government, folloiwng Jakarta MRT North-South Line currently being operated between Bunderang Hi and Lebak Bulus.

This project is expected to significantly improve east-west connectivity, alleviate traffic congestion, and promote sustainable urban growth in the Jabodetabek region, home to over 34 million people.

Long History of Nippon Koei in the Development of MRTJ
Nippon Koei completed the Engineering Services for the MRT East-West Line between 2021 and 2023, and will continue to provide Tender Assistance and other consulting services under this contract to support the advancement of Indonesia’s transport infrastructure.
