Nippon Koei Makes an Impact Sponsoring PADSK-SCLI International Conference 2025

Date : Sept 2025
JAKARTA - Nippon Koei (NK) is proud to have participated as one of the sponsors of the PADSK-SCLI International Conference from August 7-8, 2025, in the Manhattan Hotel Jakarta. Organized by the Indonesia Institute of Dispute Board for Construction (PADSK) and the Society of Construction Law Indonesia (SCLI) and supported by the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation (DRBF), all participants explored invaluable insights and created strong connections with widely known experts in their respective fields.
Emphasizing the dispute avoidance function of the Dispute Avoidance and Adjudication Board (DAAB) as highlighted in the latest edition of FIDIC, this year’s conference brought together distinguished Indonesian and international professionals, employers, consultants, contractors, state auditors, construction regulators, private developers, and academicians to discuss the current dispute resolution practice globally.
From the shared knowledge and continued discussions, the relevant stakeholders become more aware of the importance of collaborative project management to optimize dispute avoidance function and to apply preventive measures for unresolved claims in order to accomplish successful contracts and claims management of projects.

For NK, the event served as a key opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals and demonstrate our commitment to avoiding disputes in construction projects. As published in Konstruksi Media on August 13, 2025, Mr. Nicholas Felix, the Chief Representative of Jakarta-Indonesia of Nippon Koei Co., Ltd. underlined that since its establishment in 1946, NK has been engaged in government projects, where contracts must follow the international standard, and has been constantly promoting more professional and transparent project and contract management.
During the interview session with Konstruksi Media, Nicholas shared his insight and thoughts. Here are some of the important points from him in the interview:
1. The government and project management must strive to achieve higher levels of professionalism and transparency. This is the reason for the NK presence and contribution at this conference: to support Indonesia in elevating its contract standards to an international level.
2. He emphasized the importance of attracting foreign investment and private capital to bridge the gap between the government budget and national infrastructure needs. Due to this, the regulation to support the investment flow is expected to be ready as soon as possible.
3. Regarding the conference, he expects the dialogue between the auditor BPKP and BUMN (State-owned Enterprise) can improve the efficiency and fairness in the project management. He highlighted the fear among decision-makers, driven by concern over corruption, which he believes could hinder progress.
4. In terms of technologies, NK has developed a Research and Development centre in Japan with a focus on the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve the research efficiency and its products.
“We see AI as the next step in increasing the capabilities and efficiency of the technical sector and product development.”

The notable success and international coverage of the conference reinforce our dedication to supporting Indonesia in bringing contract standards to an international level and advocating meaningful learning, collaboration, and growth that align with our mission to make the world a better place through engineering technology.
