What We Do In That Event ?

Jakarta – One of the things that became the commitment from the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ID&E and Perum Jasa Tirta 1 (PJT-1) which was signed on 20 September 2023, is capacity development. The follow-up of the MoU can be seen from the involvement of Nippon Koei (NK) in activities of the benchmarking program of PJT-1.

The benchmarking program which was held in 2 batches (last January and Earl February of 2024) is done by visiting several dams in Japan. NK took part as a guide for the team of PJT-1 to help them do the benchmarking at several dams and visited the head office of NK in Tokyo.

Ms. Natsumi FURUKAWA, personnel from NK Head Office Tokyo accompanied the team of PTJ-1 when visiting Takizawa Dam, Saitama Prefecture, Japan.

The objective of the benchmarking program is to increase the knowledge of natural resources management activities. Japan is well known as one of the best water resources management has succeeded in managing water resources such as controlling sedimentation in reservoirs, handling waste, optimizing the operation scheme, operating the hydropower generation, and financing system as well as cooperating with other stakeholders regarding the operation of water infrastructures.

Mr. Ken NISHINO, the executive officer of ID&E, joined in this event to accompany the team of PJT-1 to visit Shimokubo Dam located in Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan.

Mr. Ken NISHINO (person in the middle), accompanied the PJT-1 team at the Hydropower part of Shimokubo Dam.

Not only visiting Futase Dam, Takizawa Dam, Shimokubo Dam, and NK Head Office, the benchmarking program of PJT-1 also visited the Arakawa Dam, Tone River in the Kanto Region, and several other places. Some of the valuable knowledge that the PJT-1 can learn from this program are the sectors of Dam Management, Sediment and Landslide Control, Integrated Dam Management (flood control), Waterway management, and Water Distribution Facilities and their operation.

NK had rich experiences in such sectors of worldwide business including the contribution to the water resources development of Brantas River Basin (currently becoming the operational area of PJT-1) since the 1950s by providing engineering services, the capacity development aspect of PJT-1 can be accomplished well.
